Chinese Language Program
Program Introduction:
Who can apply?
The applicant must be
1. non-Chinese citizen
2. beginning level of Chinese learning
3. age above 18 to 50 years old with good health condition
4. be interested in Chinese language learning and culture
Registration date: September 1st to 5th each year
Total course hour: 40 credit hrs (finished within 1 academic year)
Courses will be scheduled 20 ~24 credit hrs per week from Monday to Friday
Curriculum: Intensive reading of Chinese, extensive reading, speaking, and listening.
Courses will be combined with extracurricular activities such as Chinese culture party or other activities.
Fees & Tuition:
a. Application fee: 500 RMB
b. Tuition: 14000~20000 RMB / academic year (fall and spring semester)
c. Accommodation fee: (Rooms provided at international students’ building)
Double room: 5000 RMB / person / semester
Single room: 8000 RMB / person / semester
d. Residence Permit: 400 RMB / year
e. Basic living cost (in Changsha): around 1500-2000 RMB / month
(For all international students enrolled at our school are required to live at international student’s building.)
Application starts from March to May each year
Application Procedure:
Step 1. Download Application Form for Overseas Students to Study at Central South University atshttp://iecd.csu.edu.cn/UI/ArticleShow.aspx?cid=29&id=532 or contact Office of International Student for application form.
Step 2. Payment for Application Fee 500 RMB (90 USD): name, nationality, transferred amount, and purpose of remittance should be clearly written in English or Chinese within the reference of remittance.

Step 3. Application Documents:
All application documents should be prepared in paper format and mailed to or sent in person to International Student Office by 30th June.
a. Application Form for Overseas Students to Study at Central South University
b. Diploma of highest degree the applicant has obtained.
For transfer students from inside or outside of China, a Certificate of Student Status
from the school, college or university should be provided in English or Chinese. If the
written language is neither English nor Chinese, an English or Chinese translation
notarized by the Notary Public of the Country where the school, college or university
subjected to along with the original certificate must be provided.
c. Transcripts。(Original document with An English or Chinese translated transcript must
be notarized if possible)
d. One copy of valid passport (validation is up to 1 year)
e. Foreigner Physical Examination Form
f. Copy of Remittance Bill (name, nationality, transferred amount, and purpose of
remittance clearly written in English within the reference of remittance)
g. Certification of No Criminal Record notarized by Chinese Consulate in the applicant’s country.
Step 4. If accepted, the Admission Letter from CSU with JW202 Form will be mailed to the applicant.
